Calcifer approached Sophie with a business. He said "I'll break your spell if you agree to break this contract I'm under." Sophie decided stay here as a cleaning lady.
Next morning Howl came back. Sophie cleaned the castle everyday. Howl went out everyday to hit on a girl. Sophie wondered why Howl didn't drive her out.
Howl didn't go out for several days, but he went out again to hit on a girl. He was a fickle man, but he was only interested until the girl falls in love with him.
